FTdx5000 Data I/O ? - VK4CCV - 20-02-2018
Hi All,
I have just took delivery of a new FTDX-5000 Limited after using the good ol'e FT-847.
I use a SignalLink as my interface into the 847 when using RTTY, PSK, ... via it's rear panel Data Port.
Now, the 5000 has two possibles, it has a port for Packet and a port for RTTY.
The manual is not real clear on what port to use when using multi-mode interfaces.
I'm guessing the Packet ???

Just above the rear panel diagram...
"Packet operation is easily accomplished on the FTDX5000 by connecting your TNC (Terminal Node Controller) to the transceiver, as in the illustration. "Packet" operation also applies to SSB-based AFSK data modes, such as PSK31, etc."
Note also details mentioning the FTDX5000 on http://www.tigertronics.com/sl_wirebm.htm ....
**On the FT-847, FT-920, FT-950, FT-1000MP, FT-DX1200, and FT-DX5000 you should also jumper Pin #5 to Ground.
I guess that it's the packet port that you will need to connect to..

Thanks for that. Yea, once I read it a few more times it started to make some sense.
As far as the SignaLink is concerned, I have ordered the Module and Cable specific to the 5000 as they informed me that the plug at the rear of the 847 is different, which it is.
Not a biggie.
