Hi all,

I was looking at property in rural areas and I wanted to know what type of NBN was available. A bit of googling around and I found a map way more detailed than the standard NBN roll out map...

http://nbnmtm.australiaeast.cloudapp.azu...bnmtm.html

Zoom into your are and you will see what type of connection is available and what its expected speed is and for those of you on FTTN it will draw a line to the node you are connected to!

Well FTTN is connected here and the spot comes up with a pale yellowish dot which the legend shows as ' (No speed estimate)'. The search box function can't seem to find my actual address so maybe I'm not really here !!

In practice the NBN modem shows a downlink speed just under 80MB/s and an uplink at just shy of 50MB/s so caters pretty well for the 25/5 plan in use.
I clicked on my dot and it showed (fixed wireless) download 50Mbs and 20Mbs upload.

Bulls**t, lucky to get any more than 22Mbs down and 4Mbs up (when it's actually working- country areas get ripped off in both price and service).
That NBN MTM map isn't up to date for our address, it says no speed estimate available and no reference to the node we have been connected to for the last 18 months. I seem to recall reading elsewhere that it hadn't been updated for some time.

I don't know how accurate this address lookup at the link below is for rural properties, but we're on the outskirts of a country town and it is accurate for us and seems to be for many others.

They get the speed data from NBN Co.
