It has been proposed that a WSPR Challenge be conducted over the winter months surrounding the winter solstice this year, those being June and July.

This would be conducted virtually the same as the summer WSPR Leaderboard Challenges, except much colder and shorter days  Confused

The data and results will be collated by John VK2IJM.

To take part is simple, just operate on 2m and or 6m WSPR, uploading your data to WSPR server and any information is automatically listed.

It will be a great way to observe the propagation conditions and look for openings over these two months and will be an interesting comparison to the December and January results.

Will probably run some weekly updated results on this thread.
Thanks to John VK2IJM for the first update tables of the VK ZL 2m & 6m WSPR Winter Challenge of 2022 Cool

The maximum distance now set on 2m WSPR at 1618 km between VK5GF and VK4UV will be extremely tough to beat unless a magic high MUF E path comes about or we get a extremely rare winter Bight Path opening or VK ZL opening on tropo.

A number of good sporadic E openings noted on 6m WSPR bring up some healthy numbers. Maximum distance on 6m WSPR at 2459 km between VK2DVM and ZL2GT.

The (impressive) results are in for the June segment of the Winter WSPR Leaderboard Challenge!
Numerous callsigns in there and a number of new ones too which is great to see.
For winter, the June distance field was very tough! even I didn't make into the distance results on 144 MHz WSPR.

Well done guys! Thanks again to John VK2IJM for compiling all the data for us.
